Congress Invite 1

11 January 2014

The New Year has started with a bang not only in Somerset West, but I am sure at most practices across the country. I still wish I were away on Holiday away form the hustle and bustle.

This is going to be a full year as before with numerous meetings that are planned. SASP is very excited about the upcoming SADA congress in March.

SASP worked very hard to identify speakers to come to South Africa to lecture at the upcoming SADA Congress at the Emperors’ Palace from Friday 14-16 March 2014. SASP has put together parallel sessions with specific topics related to Oral medicine, Periodontics and Implantology.

We have world-class speakers confirmed for these sessions that run every day from the Friday to the Sunday. Unfortunately Professor Crispian Scully who was going to talk on the Wednesday cancelled his participation due to medical reasons. We are in the process of filling this day again for the parallel sessions scheduled. Professor Markus Hurzeler will share his experience with regard to implantology. Professor Torsten Jempt will share his experience with implants over a long period of time. Dr Mark Hockman will give some insight on how Orthodontics and Periodontics are combined. We will also involve our local academics and get some feedback from projects that are run at the different South African Universities.

The SASP AGM is scheduled for 11:15 on Sunday 16 March 2014 and we urge our members to attend this meeting where important decisions will have to be made, relevant to SASP. We would be very grateful for the attendance of Private Periodontists our Academics in the different Universities as well as Registrars busy with training.

Please have a look at the Congress Programme.

The early bird registration closes on 14 January 2014 so time is of the essence to register and make use of this potential saving of just under a R1000.

We hope to see you all there.

Dr Johann Lochner
President of The South African Society for Periodontology
